Athletics

Jayne started her professional career in the sport of athletics, working for the IAAF for seven years in what was then their London based global headquarters. After working as Venue Media Manager for the sport at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and then swiftly moving on to be Director of Media Services at the IAAF World Championships in Edmonton, it was natural that our early projects would include major athletics events.

We are happy to say that this early tradition continues to this day, with many more IAAF and EA events under our belts, and with Jayne continuing to serve on the IAAF’s Press Committee.

Commonwealth Games

A third of the world’s population are represented as citizens of the 71 nations and territories of the Commonwealth, including some of the world’s largest and smallest countries, from India to Niue. The Games go back to Hamilton in 1930 and the next edition will be in Birmingham in 2022. Often known as “The Friendly Games”, Pearce International has been involved in two editions; Manchester 2002 Glasgow 2014 and we are now involved with the upcoming Birmingham 2022.

Football

Love it or hate it, it is hard to argue with the idea that Association Football, or “soccer, is truly the world game. Inspiring passion and commitment from fans and players in every corner of the globe, football brings the world together like no other single sport.

We are delighted to have been and be involved with football’s major tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup, FIFA Women’s World Cup, FIFA Confederations Cup and UEFA’s European Football Championships and UEFA Champions League. These events bring major international media interest and we only put our best on them.

Hockey

Unlike Jayne, Andrew has never been much good at team ball sports, but his mother was a prominent hockey player at Irish provincial level and continued to play for her local club into her seventies.

Jayne’s first exposure to hockey (unless you count Ice Hockey) came in the London 2012 Olympic Games and a few years after that we were delighted to be approached by England Hockey to help them with the Eurohockey Championships in London 2015. It was the start of a partnership that saw us return for the IHF Champions League and the IHF Women’s World Cup.

Invictus Games

On a trip to the Warrior Games in the USA in 2013, HRH The Duke of Sussex, or Prince Harry as he is more commonly known, saw first-hand how the power of sport can help those suffering from injuries and illness. He was inspired by his visit and the Invictus Games was born.

The word ‘invictus’ means ‘unconquered’. It embodies the fighting spirit of wounded, injured and sick Service personnel and personifies what these tenacious men and women can achieve post injury. The Games harness the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who serve their country.

The Invictus Games is about much more than just sport – it captures hearts, challenges minds and changes lives. In bringing together the stories of our wounded warriors with those generated by sport and with the worldwide interest in Prince Harry, a unique media interest was created and Pearce International has been there since the beginning.

Olympic Games

The largest sporting endeavour on the planet, the Olympic Games needs no introduction. With over 200 nations and territories represented, the modern Olympic Games have been running since 1896 and now encompass Summer, Winter and the Youth Olympic Games.

Since the inception of Pearce International we have been involved in the delivery of Salt Lake City 2002, Torino 2006, Beijing 2008, London 2012, Sochi 2014, Rio 2016 and we are now involved with the upcoming Tokyo 2020. Additionally Jayne has been a consultant on the IOC’s Press Commission/Committee since 2013 and was on the Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (OCOG) for Atlanta 1996. We have also worked for bid committees and have consulted to the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF). We think it is fair to say that when it comes to media operations, there isn’t much in the Olympic Movement we haven’t done.

A little known fact is that Jayne and Andrew met while they were both working for SOCOG – the organising committee for Sydney 2000. The rest is history!

Other Events

The list of sporting events can sometimes seem endless, and we have been providing media operations expertise to a wide range of the world’s major sporting events. Get a flavour of some of them here!

Other Multi-Sport Events

While the Olympic Games and the Commonwealth Games are, arguably, the most well-known multi-sports international events, there are a host of others.  We have worked on many of them, including the Asian Games, the Pan-American Games, the European Games, the Islamic Games and the European Championships. Find out more here:

Rugby

Andrew’s first sporting memories are of going to Lansdowne Road to see his uncle captain the Irish Rugby team, so this sport has always had a special place in his heart.  Add this to the fact of World Rugby’s location in Dublin and it is no wonder we have been involved in one or two tournaments down through the years.
